Photo Friday: School’s out for summer!

20140516 [art school prep for ball]

Today marks the end of semester here at LJMU, and no doubt many of you will be planning or attending events to celebrate the end of another year of hard work. However, I suspect that your preparations won’t be quite as intricate as those of art school students in the 1930s.

Our Photo Friday this week shows students decorating the School of Art (when it was based at 68 Hope Street) for a fancy dress ball in 1930. Unfortunately, we don’t have any photographs of the finished result!

Access to material from the Art School Archive is by arrangement with the LJMU Archivist. There is also a selection of photographs from the archive available through our Digital Collections.
