From a handmade Beatles jacket to the hypnotic power of the Rolling Stones

“I was one of the 13 people at Eric’s to see Roxy Music”,  “I remember going to a concert in a Beatles jacket my mother made me!” “I missed my train back to Southport because I was hypnotised by the Rolling Stones” …

Musical memories2These are just some of the memories that people shared at our Musical memories event on 27th April in the Aldham Robarts LRC. A range of visitors helped make the two sessions a great success: including a fan from Slovenia and some that heard about it on the Billy Butler show.

Everyone clearly enjoyed sharing their memories and hearing about the John Lennon time capsule. The event included a tour of the Special Collections and Archives held here at LJMU and the talk focused on the popular music collections, in particular the Eric’s Club archive, in addition to the Punk, Frankie Vaughan and Beatles related items. Our next Musical Memories event is this Saturday 11th May at 10am and 2pm in the Aldham Robarts Library. Book your place here and come and share your musical memories.
